The original Thorens TD124 was released in 1957 and has been used by many radio studios around the world for many decades.
The design as well as the basic construction of TD 124 DD are based on the prototype. You can adjust the height of the aluminium base.
The last is based on rubber elements which reduce the vibrations.
The new Thorens TD124 DD uses a Direct Drive precision system. This ensures high torque, allows precise speed control and prevents unwanted vibration not to being transferred from the drive system to the plate.
The tonearm TP124 is also new. It can be fully adjusted precisely and is equipped with an innovative ruby “anti-skating” system. It has a patented electric lifting system, which ensures that the needle is “protected’ safely.
The attached cartridge-shell provides exceptional flexibility in the choice of vinyl. The Thorens TD124 DD comes with an extra, slightly heavier counterweight that matches the Thorens SPU TD124 cartirdge, which sold separately. This is an improved version of the famous Ortofon SPU design specifically for THorens. A high quality external power supply ensures uninterrupted power supply, for connection to high standard systems.
In addition to unbalanced outputs, there are also balanced XLR connections that guarantee optimal signal transmission and therefore the best possible sound with a properly equipped phono preamplifirer.
The Thorens TD124DD turntable will be available for sale from September 2020. It will be available in two colour versions: black and walnut. Also, the Thorens SPU TD 124 cartridge will be available in September.
